Richard Brown, Esq.

Richard Brown is a retired Clayton County (GA) Magistrate Court Judge, who served in this capacity for 15 years. He presided over civil cases, to include, landlord-tenant, domestic relations, domestic violence, child abandonment, and criminal cases, to include, preliminary hearings, arrest/search warrants, and child abandonment. Richard has been a licensed (GA) attorney for 36 years and has also served as a Clayton County Assistant District Attorney and a City of Atlanta Public Defender.

 

Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Administration degree from Georgia State University. He also graduated from Woodrow Wilson School of Law with a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Law degree. He is a registered Neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and is qualified to mediate cases in the areas of Arbitration, General Civil, Domestic Relations, Domestic Violence, Juvenile Delinquency, and Juvenile Dependency.

 

Richard has mediated cases in Muscogee, Chatham, and Cobb counties. He has a special interest and commitment in encouraging and supporting young people. As an attorney, he has coached a high school mock trial team. As a judge, Richard coordinated a middle school mentoring program in collaboration with the county court, school, and police. As a mediator, he gained certification as a Botvin “Life Skills Training” Parent and Student facilitator.
